My name is Lasana Toure, I am 29 years old. I was born in Monrovia Liberia, raised in Atlantic county New Jersey before moving to Des Moines Iowa in 2015. I followed my mother, who raised all 5 of her children by herself. Motivated by my hard working single mother, I was able to turn myself into a high school football standout. I attended Delaware Valley University in PA for 3 semesters. I then attended Atlantic Cape Community College for 1 semester before moving to Iowa with my family.

I have been incarcerated for 6 years now. I have always been inspired to continue my college education. I didn't know going to college in prison was possible until 2021, when my mentorship and brotherhood started with James. With all the growth I've made during the last 6 years, I now have an insatiable desire to be successful with in  my personal development, health, learning and ultimately my future.

I want nothing more than to make myself and family proud by showing the evolution of the man I am now and the one plan to be.

I would love to earn a degree in Business Administration to take a step closer to achieving my MBA, as my father has. Getting an education while in prison will mean so much to me because it will be tangible proof of the hard work I have and will continue to do for myself. I have elaborate goals I intent to accomplish through entrepreneurship, mental and physical health.

Continuing my education while in prison is a major step closer to these aspirations. I greatly  appreciate complete strangers being involved in me achieving goal of going to school because it proves the narrative wrong that no one cares for incarcerated individuals. Strangers participation in my accomplished is motivating because I inspire to be in a position to help and provide opportunities to those less fortunate or seemingly forgotten about. I plan to make those who has believed in me while in my darkest of times proud beyond their imagination.
